Betty Lou Gerkin, age 77, of Route 3, Grafton, passed away Wednesday, August, 11, 2010, at Grafton City Hospital. She was born September 20, 1932, in Pruntytown, WV, a daughter of the late William Alfred Ross and Georgia Bell (Sinsel) Ross. Her husband, Fred Gerkin, preceded her in death March 7, 2006.
Mrs. Gerkin was employed for many years at James & Law Co. of Clarksburg, WV, as a sales clerk. She was a homemaker. She was a graduate of Grafton High School and Fairmont State College. She loved reading American Literature, and square dancing. She was a member of Janes Memorial United Methodist Church.
Surviving are: one son, Mark Edward Gerkin, of Grafton; one daughter, Lea Ann Gerkin, of Pittsburgh, PA; one granddaughter, Amanda (Gerkin) Allenby and husband Randy, of Fairmont, WV; one daughter- in- law and good friend who helped care for her, Tara Gerkin, of Grafton; one sister-in-law, Evelyn (Haller) Ross, of Pruntytown, WV; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents and husband she was preceded in death by one brother, Charles Ross.
