Betty Lee Feathers Miller passed away peacefully, surrounded by her loved ones at her home in Strasburg, Virginia on November 22, 2023.

Betty was born on July 23, 1938, in Fishers Hill, Virginia.  Her parents were Carson and Nellie Putman Feathers.  She attended Strasburg High School and lived in Strasburg all her life.

When Betty was 18 years old, she worked as a Secretary at Winchester Memorial Hospital.  In her early 20’s, Betty married Lester (Junior) Miller and they had their daughter, Cindy.  She chose to be a stay-at-home mom for many years.

Betty was a life-long member of St. Paul Lutheran Church where she faithfully served in many different capacities as a volunteer.  She assisted with the weekday kindergarten program for several years and was also the church secretary for Pastor William Hall. Betty played an active role in the community and was a member of various local organizations, including the ladies Club 15, the Garden Club, and the P. Buckley Moss Society.

Betty was a devoted wife and mother and loving “Memaw” to her granddaughter, Lacey.

Betty was blessed to have many dear friends with whom she shared lifelong memories.  We are thankful for our time together on this Earth and will continue to remember and honor her spirit.  We will always feel her presence in our hearts.

In addition to her parents, Betty is preceded in death by her brother Donald Feathers; sister Lucy Feathers; nephews Jeffrey Whittington and Kevin Lee Feathers; and brothers-in-law Harold Whittington and Alex Golliday.  Betty is survived by her husband Lester L. Miller; daughter Cynthia (Cindy) and husband William Allen III; granddaughter Larissa (Lacey) Brian; step granddaughter Carter Allen; and siblings Judy Whittington, George and wife Patsy Feathers, and Hattie Golliday.

The family would like to express their deepest love and gratitude to her sister, Hattie, who never left her side for the past several weeks.  She embodies all that is good in this world.
