Betty Joann Modlin, 78, of Kellogg, died on Sunday, August 18, 2019, at Iowa Lutheran Hospital.
Betty, the daughter of Homer “Bud” and Velma (Johnson) Hinshaw, was born on April 18, 1941. She graduated from Kellogg High School and Cosmetology School in Des Moines. Betty was united in marriage with Hoy Modlin and they made their lifelong home in Kellogg.
Betty is survived by her children, Dr. Josh (Karie) Modlin of Urbandale and Lori Wearmouth of Newton; grandchildren, Tai Graf, Kendra Cupples, and Gracyn Modlin; many great-grandchildren including Luke and Isaac Andrew; and her brother, Roger (Joan) Hinshaw of Newton. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Hoy Modlin; daughter, Molly Moore; grandson, Brendan O’Brien; three brothers, Gary “Tuff” Hinshaw, Robert “Hoop” Hinshaw, and Gerald “Babe” Hinshaw; and her significant other, Cass Sharp.
