Betty Joan Roper, age 85, of Centralia, passed away Friday, July 21, 2017 at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Breese, IL.  She was born July 24, 1931 in Centralia, the daughter of George Dugan and Rose (Claxton) Dugan. She married Cecil Roper Jr. in May of 1958 and he preceded her in death on December 25, 2016.

Betty is survived by three children: Craig Roper and wife Donna of Centralia, Darin Roper of Palm Springs, CA, and Kyla Beaver and husband Clay of Centralia; five grandchildren: Megan Diekemper and husband Michael of Vandalia, Jordan Roper and wife Andrea of O’Fallon, Mason Beaver and fiancé Megan Slover of Centralia, Brandon Beaver and special friend Lauren Smith of Centralia, and Olivia Beaver of Centralia; two great-grandsons: Case Diekemper and Jaxon Diekemper both of Vandalia; a brother, George Dugan and wife Leah of Golconda; a sister, Kay Hanna of St. Elmo; brother-in-law: Roger Roper of Centralia; sister-in-law: Sue Dugan of Centralia; several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and two brothers: Bobby Dugan and Billy Dugan. Betty was of the Protestant Faith. She enjoyed playing Bingo at the V.F.W. Post 2055 and solving word searches. Betty’s greatest enjoyment was spending time with her grand-kids, family and friends.
