Betty Jo Smith Pitcher
Betty Jo Smith Pitcher (83) of Burlington, North Carolina, went to be with her Lord and Savior November 8, 2022.
She was born December 8, 1938, in Westminster, South Carolina, to parents Joe Clark and Lennie Porter Smith. She earned both a Bachelor’s and Master’s degree and taught elementary school in Spartanburg, South Carolina. She also taught high school and served as a school librarian in Chesnee, South Carolina. Betty most recently resided in Burlington, North Carolina, where she attended Harvest Baptist Church. She had many talents and interests, but her greatest joy was family. She especially doted over her children and grandchildren and was constantly bragging about each one. She was their avid fan and supporter- whether in sports, music, ministry, or other talents. She loved being surrounded by her family, and she will be forever loved and missed by them all.
She was preceded in death by parents: Joe and Lennie Smith;
son: Kenneth Hubbard Callaham Jr (Chip); husbands: Kenneth Callaham, William Miller, Ed Smith, and Tom Pitcher.
Her survivors include:
siblings: Dixie Ham (husband Hugh) and Clark Smith (wife Geri);
daughters: Kay Hamilton (husband Kip), Kim Adkins (husband James), Kelly Bates (husband Gil), Beth Coble (husband Geronki), and Taryn Beka Miller; daughter-in-law Brenda Callaham; honorary daughter: Gwen McBride (husband George); and step sons: Trip, Ty, and Lee Miller.
30 Grand children, 29 great grand children, and many nieces and nephews.
