Betty Jo Gilbert Shankles, 89 of East Ridge passed away on Tuesday, January 17, 2017. She was a 1945 graduate of Rossville High School and also attended McKenzie Business College. She had lived in East Ridge, TN for the last 32 years. Betty held several positions in credit management; however, her most treasured accomplishments were that of wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She was an avid Alabama football fan and was a member in good standing with the Chattanooga Alumni and Friends Chapter.
She is preceded in death by her parents, John B. and Marchie Slack Gilbert; loving husband, Ronald P. Shankles; daughter, Jo Renette Shankles Blair; infant granddaughter, Jodi Katelyn Blair; brother, John L. (Sonny) Gilbert; and sister, Kathryn Prichard Cantrell Raulston.
Survivors include her sons, Ronald E. (Jean) Shankles, Ft. Oglethorpe and Gilbert Raye (Susan) Shankles, Jasper, TN; seven grandchildren, five great-grandchildren; along with several nieces and nephews.
