Betty Jean Swiger, 88, of Grafton, passed away on January 4, 2021, at the United Hospital Center in Bridgeport.  She was born on May 3, 1932, in Philippi, a daughter of the late Elden Lee Swick and Virgie Bell (Fridley) Swick.  Betty was married to Arnold Ray Swiger who preceded her in death on May 8, 1995. 

Betty enjoyed doing crafts, fishing, riding the ATV, camping and crocheting.  She was a talented artist, especially when it came to drawing.  She loved the holidays when she got to spend time with her family.  She adored her grandchildren and always looked forward to cooking a big dinner for the family she loved. 

Betty is survived by two sons, Thomas Swiger (Roberta) and Randy Swiger (Tammy) both of Philippi; four daughters, Lona Jean Bailey, Mary Spring (Frank), Sandra McCumbers, all of Grafton and Debora Baker of Thornton; on adoptive son, Albert Mayle; 11 granddaughters, Carol Jackson (DJ), Connie Swiger, Amanda Young, Tina Dom (Troy), Laura Fast (Mike), Wendy Weekly (Johnny), Betty “Nicky” Williams (Justin), Victoria “Vicky” Baker, Ashley Poling (Eric), Kiera Swiger, Journie Swiger Jaylen Swiger; five grandsons, Gary Bailey (Lisa), Eric Swiger, Thomas Swiger, Joshua Swiger and Chris Swiger (Brittany); 23 great-grandchildren, Jimmy Moore, Billy Moore, Kim Swiger, Robert Swiger, Adam Young, Austin Young, Michael Dom, Mary Dom, Mikey Fast, Andrea Fast, Lexi Weekly, Tony Weekly, Jacob Williams, Hannah Poling, Hunter Poling, Bradley Poling, Cody Bailey, Noah Bailey, Timothy Bailey, Tj Swiger, Destiny Stemple, Matthew Workman and Angel Swiger; and by 3 great great grandchildren, Blaire Moore, Ryder Moore, and Devin Moore, and numerous friends that she considered to be family.

She was also preceded in death by four grandchildren, Rondle McCumbers, Shawn Bailey, Trinity Bailey and Jasmine Swiger; two brothers, Lawrence Swick and John Swick, and by one sister Martha Mclean.
