Betty Jane “Penny” Knapp, age 78 of Centralia, passed away on Tuesday, June 23, 2015 at her home surrounded by her family. Penny was born on May 20, 1937, the daughter of William Merle & Bertha Mae (Pennington) Branson. Penny is survived by one daughter, Rebecca Lenzini and special friend Robert Ingles of Centralia; one son, Joe Lenzini and wife Sheryl of Norfolk, Virgina; three grandchildren, Jane Almodovar of Centralia, Brandon Lenzini of California, Scott Lenzini of Norfolk, Virginia; three great-grandchildren, Natalie Miller, Colten Jackson, Ryleigh Lenzini; one brother, Charles Wennberg of Homewood-Flossmoor, Illinois; very special cousin, Mike Pennington and wife Brenda; and one nephew, Brian Charles Penny is preceded in death by her parents and one son, Lee Lenzini. Penny was a graduate of the Centralia High School Class of 1956. She then attended Kaskaskia College.
She worked for Littel Fuse for three years before starting her career at Murray Developmental Center, where she retired after 30 years in 1998. She enjoyed family genealogy and spending time with her family. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, June 27, 2015 at 3:00 p.m. at Sutherland-Garnier Funeral Home with Pastor Seth Baltzell officiating. Interment will follow at Bell Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 2:00 p.m. until 3:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Memorials can be made to the Family and will be accepted at the funeral home.
