Mrs. Betty Jane Whitworth quietly passed away, surrounded by her loving family, on July 16, 2016 in Garland, Texas. The life of Mrs. Betty Whitworth was a beautiful one, full of happiness, joy, and love. Her life is reflected by the memories, stories, and reminiscence of her family.
Mrs. Betty Jane Whitworth was born to her parents, Jack and Sinnie Ward, on March 13, 1922 in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. Mrs. Whitworth was an animal lover, liking both cats and dogs. However, she had a passion for dogs and owned several dogs over her lifetime. In her later years of life, she owned many cute and cuddling Yorkies which kept her company. When away from her pets, Mrs. Betty Whitworth was a member of the Elks and held several leader positions within the society. Throughout her life, Mrs. Whitworth held many hobbies including dancing, music, and jewelry making. Dancing was a passion of Mrs. Betty Whitworth. She loved to dance and taught many people different dances and dancing techniques. When dancing became a little harder to manage, Mrs. Whitworth loved to watch the television show, “Dancing with the Stars.” Along with dancing, Mrs. Betty Whitworth liked music, especially 1920’s style music. A particular favorite singer of Mrs. Whitworth was crooning Old Blue Eyes, Frank Sinatra. While listening to her favorite music, Mrs. Whitworth would handcraft pieces of jewelry for herself. Aside from all of her passions, pets, and hobbies, Mrs. Betty Jane Whitworth’s grandest passion was that of her family. She deeply loved her son and his wife along with her grandchildren and great-grandchild.
Mrs. Betty Jane Whitworth is survived by in this life by her loving son, Whitty Ward Whitworth and his wife, Kathy Whitworth; her grandchildren, Kimberly Johnson and Brian Whitworth; and her only grandchild, Heather Johnson. Mrs. Whitworth is preceded in death by her parents, Jack and Sinnie Ward.
