Betty Irene Edwards, 83, of Elkhart, passed away Sunday, Dec. 8, 2013, at Elkhart General Hospital.
She was born Sept. 29, 1930, in Elkhart to Hezakia and Mina (Depew) Peffley.
On March 9, 1952, she married the late William Dale Edwards in Elkhart.
Survivors include two daughters, Brenda D. Bloss of Edwardsburg, Mich., and Tamala (Robert) Martin of Destin, Fla.; two sons, Dennis Lee (Isabel) Edwards and John Edwards, both of Elkhart; two sisters, Wanda (James) Rowe of Elkhart and Erma (James) Rippy of Howe; seven grandchildren, Katherine (Matthew McClung) Bloss, Amber (Shad) Bloss-Annis, Zach (Jessica) Whickcar, Kourtney (Joshua) Ingram, Sommer (Sean) Atkins, William Anderson and Sarah Edwards; two stepgrandchildren, Horacio Monroy and Karla Monroy; and seven great-grandchildren, Landon, Cami, Ella, Owen, Symphony, Kayleb and Kayden.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two sons, William D. Edwards and James A. Edwards; brother Kyle “Bunny” Peffley; and two sisters, Helen Bankson and Sally Richardson.
Betty was employed at CTS for more than 42 years prior to her retirement. Following retirement from CTS, Betty spent several years baby-sitting several neighborhood children and was known by many as “Grandma Betty.”
