Betty Irene Custer, age 77, died Saturday November 15, 2008 at the Samaritan Hospice Inpatient Unit in Mount Holly. Mrs. Custer was born in Cresaptown, MD and was a longtime resident of Burlington City. She was employed for many years at Nabisco in Pennsauken before her retirement in 1990. Betty loved Burlington and all of her friends and neighbors in the Columbus Park neighborhood of Burlington City.
She also loved country music and sewing and was an avid maker of clown dolls. She was predeceased by her husband, Irvin “Jack” Custer who died in 1999. Betty is survived by her sons, Larry Custer, Sr. and Jack Custer, her daughter and son in law Lori and Darrin Elbertson, her grandchildren, Larry Custer, Jr., Paul E. Custer, Jamie Custer, Ryan Custer and Briana Elbertson and several great grandchildren. She is also survived by her brother Paul Shepherd and her sister Doris Hansen.
