Bette was a consistent and determined defender of children and those who could not defend themselves in Adams County from 1981-1985 and then in several western states and at the National level until her retirement in 2005. Her desire to bring compassion and dignity to the victims of crime an her uncompromising approach often left her at odds with a system that often struggled to find the will or the means for such change.
To her friends and family she was a generous and caring source of knowledge and stories who loved to share, especially from her kitchen or her garden.
Bette is survived by her sisters, Robert and Kay; sons, Brian (Erin) and Matthew; two grandchildren, Justin and Jessica and numerous nephews and nieces.
