Bessie L. Fehr, age 95 of Freeport, IL, passed away on Friday, June 29, 2018 at FHN Memorial Hospital in Freeport. She was born on May 12, 1923 in Dakota, IL; the daughter of the late Louis and Carrie (Marty) Passet. She was a graduate of Orangeville High School and attended Highland Community College. Bessie married Charles Fehr on November 23, 1944 at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Rock Grove; he passed on July 7, 2011.

She had worked at Burgess Battery, Micro Switch, WT Raleigh and A&P Grocery Store. She was a past member of St. Paul Lutheran Church where she taught Sunday School and served as a Den Mother for the Cub Scouts and a current member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Durand where she was involved in the Thrivent Program. She was also active in other church activities such as quilting and noodle making. Her memberships also include RSVP; Senior Citizens at Dakota, Rock City and Davis; SHARE Program; Antique Engine Club; and the Winneshiek Theatre. Bessie enjoyed playing cards and games, and sewing. She was famous for her angel food cake, chocolate chip cookies and will always be remembered for her feisty personality.

She is survived by her sons, Alden “Ace” (Mary) Fehr of Freeport and Dennis (LaVonne) Fehr of Davis, IL; grandchildren, Angela (Mike) Rosemeier, Carrie Fehr, Laurie (Salvador) Guadarrama, Deanna (Russell) Perkins, and Daniel (Kristy) Fehr; great grandchildren, Nathan Rosemeier, Maggie Perkins, Natalie Perkins, Emily Guadarrama, Araceli Guadarrama, and Gabriel Fehr; and special friends, Marge and Linda. She was preceded in death by her parents and husband, Charles.
