Bertha Mae Horn Abernathy, age 88, died Wednesday, March 6, 2013, at her Summitville Residence. She was the daughter of the late John Crig and the late Bertha (Robison) Craig Hardy. She was born in Scott County, Indiana on May 7, 1924, and graduated from Scottsburg High School. Robert Horn was her first husband. After his death, she married Richard L. Abernathy on April 20, 1974.
He preceded her in death on August 24, 2001. She spent most of her life in the Rigdon area. She retired from the VA Hospital in 1985 after spending 30 years in nursing and Communication Records. She was a member of the Summitville United Methodist Church and enjoyed camping, fishing, traveling, and gardening. Three Daughters: Terry Lynn (Toby Sipes) Miller, Summitville, IN Robin Marie Berry, TN Sandra Dee Murdock, TN Step-Daughter Sheila(Dean) Kay Graham, Elwood, IN One Son: Larry(Rosemary) Horn, Scottsburg, IN Step-Son; Shawn Lee Abernathy, Tipton, IN 20Grand Children 31 Great-Grandchildren and several Great-Great Grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by 3 brothers, 3 sisters, daughter Dora Neace, and Great Granddaughter Katie Coleman.
