Bertha (Bert) Jeanette Petrie passed away peacefully on June 24, 2020 at Rose Arbor Hospice.
She was born on January 9, 1923 in Grand Rapids, Michigan. She was married to Jack R Coleman who preceded her in death. Bert raised four great kids. She is survived by three children: Jeannie Fairchild, Bob Coleman (Helen) and Dan Coleman (Sue);stepchildren: Walter Petrie and Lola Neuman; many grandchildren and many great grandchildren. Her daughter, Elizabeth Weingartener, preceded her in death on July 22, 2003 and was also preceded in death by her stepchildren: Chuck Petrie and Jackie Richards.
When Bert lived in Birmingham, she worked as a real estate agent for Hall & Young for three years. On October 19, 1974 she married John Petrie who preceded her in death on December 5, 2009. Bert and John traveled to a lot of places including Alaska, Hawaii and Ireland just to name a few, They eventually made their permanent home in Indialantic Florida, until Johns death in 2009. Bert served 3 Terms as Elder at First Presbyterian Church in Indialantic, Florida, she was also the chairman of the Worship Committee and Chairman of the Presbyterian Women.
In 2010, she moved to Kalamazoo, Michigan to be closer to family. The Fountains became her home for 10 years. She was a social butterfly and loved being involved in anything the Fountains offered.
She was also a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Kalamazoo.
