Bertha “Gert” Gertrude Bender Hospodar passed away at her home in Danbury, CT surrounded by her family on June 6, at the age of 92. Gert lived in Stamford CT in the same house in The Cove for over 65 years. Gertrude is predeceased by her husband Joseph F. Hospodar, her parents Emma (Kline) and Sylvester Bender and her sister Audrey (Larry) Marzaloes. Gertrude is survived by her children Michael (wife Sandy) Hospodar of Stamford CT, Peggy Kennedy (Gary Woker) of Escondido CA, Patricia Wisniewski of Danbury CT, Paul Hospodar (wife Karen) of Trumbull CT and KathyAnne Thompson (husband Matthew) of North Olmsted OH. Grandchildren Amanda Hospodar (Troy) Finn, Kristofer (Pam) Hospodar, Holly Kennedy (Damio) Towkaniuk, Jamie Kennedy (Richard) Gaither, Alison Wisniewski (Kevin) Kistner, Erin Wisniewski (Richard) Espitee, Stephanie Hospodar, Christina Hospodar, Andrew J. Thompson and Mary C. Thompson. Great-grandchildren, Katie and Tyler Finn, Shaylee and Dimitri Towkaniuk, Cole and Sage Gaither, and Tucker, Madison and Logan Kistner. Gertrude was born in McKeesport Pennsylvania, graduated from St. Peters Catholic High School, and went on to earn a RN degree from Mercy Hospital School of Nursing. She proudly joined the U.S. Army and served as a First Lieutenant nurse.
