Bertha Anaya was born on February 12, 1940 to Samuel and Josephina
Molina in Yuma, AZ. She passed away peacefully on March 20, 2021 at
Hospice of the Valley Dobson Home in Chandler, Az. She attended
Immaculate Conception Catholic School and graduated from Yuma High
School in 1958. She married her first love Bobby Anaya in 1959 and they
had two daughters and shared 49 years together until his passing in 2009.
She and Bobby built a lifetime of fond and loving memories together that
included many trips and fun excursions.
She was proceeded in death by her parents, her husband Bobby, along
with her sister Beatrice and brother Samuel.
Bertha was employed from the age of 16, first at Kress in downtown Yuma.
In the early 60’s she began her career in banking at The Arizona Bank then
moved to AEA Credit Union for 29 years until her retirement in 2005. She
was a dedicated and hard worker who was devoted to her career, her
family and friends.
Bertha had a heart of gold and displayed it by her generosity and help to
others. Her home was an open door to friends and family. If she wasn’t
the host she could be counted on to never miss a party, wedding or social
occasion. She loved to travel and kept a busy calendar. If she wasn’t out
of town or at home, she was shopping! Spending time with her family was
her favorite thing. Her family meant the world to her. She was also blessed
with many lifelong friends over her 81 years. She met Leo Santacruz in
2011 and they became life-long companions. Bertha and Leo spent their
years together in Orangevale, CA in the summer and Bertha spent the
winter in Yuma, AZ with her daughters.
Bertha is survived by her sister Brenda Barnett, daughters, Lenore Anaya
(Tracy Engler) and Veronica Shea (Tony), grandsons Bobby Stone, Jon,
Josh and Adam Shea, and four great- grandchildren, and Leo Santacruz.
Mortuary,775 S. 5 th Ave. Rosary will begin at 10am followed by a memorial
service at 10:30am.
