Northfield — Bertha A. (Desrochers) Legendre 96, of Fenn Rd., died Monday March 9, 2009 at her home. She was the widow of Alphonse J. Legendre.
Bertha was born March 2, 1913 in ManchesterNew Hampshire, daughter of the late Ernest and Clara (Pomerleau) Desrochers. She helped on her family farm and started the first school bus in the Northfield area. Bertha worked for many years at CenterSchool and Litchfield High School Cafeterias. In earlier years she loved to play the piano in the Tanguay Orchesta in Waterbury, and was a member of the Beacon Grange #118 of Northfield as well as a member of the Pomona Grange.
