Bernice Tallman passed away on June 20, 2017 in Morgantown. Bernice was born on April 21, 1924 to Rebecca and Hayward Small of Clarksburg, WV. She graduated from Washington Irving HS in 1942 and went to work for the C & P Telephone Company of West Virginia.

In 1947 she married the love of her life, Mason Tallman, and after residing in Shinnston for a couple of years, they moved to Morgantown. Bernice and Mason raised their sons in Morgantown and in 1984 they moved to Philippi where they enjoyed their retirement years. Bernice was a faithful member of the Elk City United Methodist Church where she was known by all the children in the congregation for providing them with dollar bills to put in the collection plate each week. This gave her great delight. Bernice was an avid fan of WVU athletics, especially football. She received great joy in telling her friends and family how WVU fared.

Bernice is survived by her sons: Lee (Aven), James (Debra), and Thomas (Deborah); grandchildren: Scott Tallman (Shelia), Sarah Wilson (Marc), Heather Tallman, Emily Kraus (Greg), Audra Garlich (Matt), Sharon Hershkowitz (Mike), and Janice Tallman; great grandchildren: Maren and Kennedy Wilson, Brody and Ansley Kraus, Grayson and Brady Garlich, and her future great granddaughter Harper Hershkowitz, as well as numerous nieces and nephews. She is also survived by her brother, Robert Small.

Bernice was preceded in death by her mother and father, her husband, Mason, her brother, Vincent Small, her niece, Beverly Jo Johnston, and her nephew, Gary Small.

We are very grateful to Morgantown Health and Rehabilitation for providing a safe and happy place for Bernice to reside the past few years of her life.
