Bernard “Bernie” Lysle Rogers
Bernard Lysle Rogers was born on June 22, 1946 in North Platte, Nebraska. He was the oldest son of Lysle Rogers and Anne Rogers. Bernie spent his childhood on a farm south of Ravenna in Nebraska and went to D39 country school K-8 before attending high school in Ravenna with the “town” kids. He grew up hunting and fishing and collecting wild animals as pets. Bernie left high school and enlisted in the U.S. Army, finishing his High School diploma in Germany.
Bernie spent many years camping, hunting and fishing with the grandkids sharing his knowledge about anything they asked. He hunted and fished with both his son-in-laws, and spent quality time at Lake McConaughy with the entire extended family. Bernie was a devoted husband and took care of his disabled wife for most of his retirement until she passed away in March, 2020.
Bernard passed away on October 13, 2021 and is preceded in death by his mother, Anne, his father, Lysle, and his wife, Gail. He is survived by his brother, Dan Rogers, his sisters, Jacki (Steve) Gray, and Laurie (Dave) Mapes. Children, Michelle (Robert) Jewell and Alesia (Joe) Matlock, and grandchildren Haley, Rebecca, Brandon, and Lilly. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
Bernie will be greatly missed by his family and friends.
