Bernadine J. Metzger, 85, of Galien, Michigan, died Friday night, November 25, 2005, at her home with her family at her side.
Bern was born February 12, 1920 in Galien, Michigan to Roscoe and Maude (Hinman) Painter. After graduating from Galien High School in 1937, she was employed at Clark Equipment Company in Buchanan where she showed newly hired employees around the plant. On November 22, 1941 she married Richard L. Metzger in Roseland, Indiana, they made their home in Galien. Bern was a member of the Galien PTA when her children where young. She was also a member of the Rebekah Lodge and the Women’s Fellowship Circle at the Galien United Methodist Church.
Bern served on the board at the River Valley Senior Center. She loved going to dances with her husband and enjoyed singing, sharing her talents as a member of the choir for many yearsFamily members include her children, Joyce Berry of West Palm Beach, Florida, and Larry (Amy) Metzger of Galien; grandchildren, Dale Berry, Rhonda Metzger-Bernstein and Myles Metzger. She was preceded in death by her husband, Richard on September 6, 1995 and by her son, Ron Metzger of Polson, Montana.
