     Bennie Barton, 74, former Muncie resident, died, Friday, April 8, 2011, at the Good Samaritan Hospital in Zanesville, Ohio. 

     He was born in Muncie, the son of Kenneth and Pearl Morgan Barton, and graduated from Cowan High School.

     Mr. Barton served in the Army and received the Commendation Medal.

     He was an excellent golfer and bowler. He enjoyed fishing, and working at the information booth at the local Muskingam County Fair in Ohio. He was the model for the “Benny Beans” series in the local Muncie paper many years ago.

     Surviving are his wife, Joelene Heatherly Barton, to whom he had been married close to forty years; two daughters, Tammy Sandoe, (husband, Henry, Jr.), Muncie, and Nara Manor, (husband, Ronnie), Selma; his son, Clifford Bodenhafer, Austin, Texas; his sister, Jewell Evans, (husband, Thurman), Selma; his brother, Norman Barton, (wife-Gail), Muncie; and several grandchildren.

     He was preceded in death by his parents; his grandson, Michael Bodenhafer; and two brothers, Carl and David Barton.
