Benjamin J. Massimi of Burlington, died Sunday, January 29, 2012 at Samaritan Hospice Inpatient Unit, Mt. Holly at the age of 86. Mr. Massimi was born in Mt. Holly and was a lifelong Burlington resident. Benjamin was a veteran of World War II and was awarded the Bronze Star and Purple Heart. He also participated in the Battle of the Bulge. He was employed by Wallace Sportswear in Burlington until his retirement. He was an exempt member of the Neptune Hose Co., the Roma Club and the Capt. James MacFarland American Legion Post #79 all located in Burlington. Husband of the late Sara M. (nee Parker) Massimi.
Benjamin is survived by his son and daughter in law Brian and Fran Massimi, his grandchildren, Michael Massimi and Angela Rodgers and her husband Michael, his brother and sister in law Gene and Eileen Massimi. He is also survived by his sister in law Betty Cheesman, many nieces and nephews and all of his loyal “river” friends.
