Beatrice passed away on November 15, 2016. She was born on February 5, 1925 in Detroit, Michigan the daughter of Frederic W. and Beatrice (Perrett) Hartman, II, a fourth generation Detroiter and proud of it. She spent her youth swimming, sailing, skiing, dancing and loving life. Bea decided to become a professor of speech, rhetoric and broadcasting at Dennison University.

From there she went to the University of Michigan for a masters and doctorate degree. She taught at the University of Michigan and Michigan State University before coming to Western Michigan University in 1957. There she was a dedicated professor of speech and an advisor to many students in the classroom and the Young Republicans Club. While at Dennison, Bea joined the Delta Delta Delta sorority and developed friendships that have lasted since then.

She was proud of her sorority and sisters. Important to Bea also was her faith. She loved her little St. Patrick’s Anglican Catholic Church. Bea had the ability to speak with people where ever she went on her travels. Bea was preceded in death by her parents, her brother Frederic W. Hartman III, her nephew Frederic W. Hartman IV, and by her constant companion “Gracie” her cat. Surviving are her niece Andrea (Alan) Haberecht; grandniece, Emily G. Hartman; grandnephews, Steven T. (Lisette) Hartman, Evan T. (Nicole) Haberecht and Michael (Chasity) Haberecht; and many special friends.
