Beatrice Kierner of Toms River died on 19 January 2022 at home. She was 92 years old.

Bea was the daughter of the late Sylvester and Helen Di Sturco. Born in Newark on 12 December 1929, she grew up in North Arlington and graduated from Our Lady Queen of Peace High School, after which she attended Fairleigh Dickinson College in Rutherford. In 1955, Bea married Robert A. Kierner. The Kierners settled in Clark, where they raised their three children before moving to Toms River in 1988.

Bea worked for several years at New Jersey Bell and, once she had children, did volunteer work for their schools and scout troops, as well as for various charities. As her many nephews and nieces will attest, she also made the world’s best brownies.

Bea enjoyed reading, crossword puzzles, bridge, and spending time with family and friends at the Jersey shore. She and Bob rarely missed a Mets game. The Kierners were also avid travelers. The family went on at least one vacation every year, and Bea and Bob later traveled with friends and on their own throughout Europe and North America.

Bea’s husband of nearly sixty-seven years, Bob Kierner, passed away just three days earlier.

She is survived by her three children: Cynthia Kierner (Thomas Bright) of Washington, D.C.; Robert Kierner Jr. (Sandra) of East Windsor; and Michael Kierner (Ami) of Clark; and three beloved grandchildren: Danielle Kierner of Hamilton; Zachary Bright of Wilmington, North Carolina; and Anders Bright of Philadelphia.

Bea was predeceased by her parents, Sylvester and Helen Di Sturco, and by her brother Peter Di Sturco and sister Gloria Sieb. She is survived by a sister, Suzanne Landers of Edmund, Oklahoma.
