Angels are not any extraordinary beings with wings and a halo. They are ordinary people living ordinary lives. But, they have special qualities that touch our heart and soul in special ways. Barbara E. Yates (nee Chew) had a good heart, a big heart with a beautiful smile and affable sense of humor. After 74 years, the angels have waited, for so long, now they have their way. Barbara passed away unexpectedly at her home in Gloucester City on Thursday September 10, 2020.

Barbara Found her little patch of Heaven in Gloucester City. In fact, almost entirely on the same street. She was hard working and involved herself in her community. In her early years she had coached girls softball, was an avid bowler and amember of the Sportsman AC Ladies Auxiliary where she is a Past President. On the dance floor Barbara did it all; jitterbuggin, foxtrottin and swingin’. At home she loved to cook and adored her birds Bonnie & Clyde as well as her cat Mr. Jingles.

Death leaves a heartache difficult to heal; love leaves sweet memories no one can steal. There’s no easy way to do this. So, do it right: weep, laugh, watch, pray, love, live, give thanks and praise, comfort, mend, honor and remember. Barbara leaves to cherish her memory, her husband of 50 years Ronald Yates. She is the mother of Steven & his wife Venus Ferry, Kim and Dawn Yates. Barbara is a proud grandmother and is also survived by her siblings; Samuel Chew, James Chew, Kathleen Pyle, many nieces and nephews and was predeceased by her late siblings; Dennis Chew, Robert Chew, Ann Davis and Carol Raube.
