Barbara (Swider) Tanguay, 75, of Newington, died peacefully on Tuesday, Aug. 28, 2012. She was the beloved wife of the late James D. Tanguay. Born and raised in New Britain, she was the daughter of the late Frank and Mary (Chudzik) Swider. Barbara graduated from Mary Immaculate Academy, New Britain, and has resided in Newington since 1960. She was employed by the Veterans Administration for several years, and retired from Wiremold Co., West Hartford, after 29 years of employment. Barbara was an active member of St. Mary’s Church, Newington, where she was a member of the Women’s Club and was Co-Chair of the Social Club. A loving and devoted mother and “Babci”, she leaves her son and daughter-in-law James and Ellen Tanguay, and her two cherished grandchildren, Andrew and Rachel Tanguay, all of Glastonbury. She also leaves her special aunt, Florence Tracy of Mansfield Center; and numerous nieces and nephews. Her family would like to express its deepest gratitude to her caregiver, Monika Marut for her devotion and kindness.
