Barbara Ruth Bunn Coates, 93, of Ogden, died February 16th of natural causes incident to age. She was born June 28, 1920 in Union county, Iowa, a daughter of Dale H. and Pearl Lucas Bunn. She married Harry G. Coates on October 1, 1949. He died November 10, 1987.
She received her education in Iowa schools and attended Plat-Gard Business College in St. Joseph, MO.
She taught in rural schools in Iowa and was employed by the Federal Land Bank of Omaha in Sioux City, Iowa. She moved to Utah in 1943 where she worked at Hill Air Force Base for 6 years and IRS for 14 years, retiring in 1980.
She was a member of the First United Methodist Church and Auxiliary to Barracks 1011 Veterans of World War One.
She is survived by six sons, Charles H. Borchardt and S. Dale Borchardt, of Minnesota, from a previous marriage, James P. Coates (Marie) of Buda, TX, Dr. Kenneth N. Coates (Deanne) of Colorado Springs, CO, Wesley B Coates (Shirlene) of Ogden, UT and Glen T. Coates (Dana) of Price, UT. Also survived are one step-daughter, Delores (Dean) Garver of Roy; 7 grandchildren; 6 great-grandchildren and one sister, Deanna McLemore (CC) of South Greenfield, MO.
She was preceded in death by her husband; an infant daughter; 2 step-sons; 2 infant brothers and 2 sisters.
