Barbara Drayton, 99, passed away on April 26, 2022 in Orange Park, FL. She was born on October 7, 1922 in Nashua, NH, to the late Herbert and Gertrude Dresser.
Barbara and her family moved to Boston when she was 8 years old, where she attended school and lived until she joined the Marines during WWII. She served in CA until the end of the war, where she “cooked for the boys.” After the war, she returned to Boston and worked in Schraffs Candy Store where she met her future husband, Bob. They were married 40 years and raised three children. She was very involved in her children’s lives with scouts, Sunday School and field trips.
Barbara was a Navy wife, Gray Lady, Nurses Aid and Girl Scout Leader. She loved camping and traveling to Maine.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Bob Drayton; daughter, Judy and son, Robbie.
Barbara is survived by her daughter, Janice Drayton; grandchildren, Robert (Angel) Hill, Melissa Hill and Kevin Hill; great-grandchildren, Tyler, Henry, Michael, Christopher, Brandon, Grace and Bailey; great-great-granddaughter, Anastasia and many friends. Barbara will be missed by her family and all who knew her.
