Barbara Mary Meadows Pettis, age 65, of Fort Walton Beach, FL., was called home Wednesday, January 16, 2013. Barbara was born in Ipswich, England on July 25, 1947 where she began her nursing career and then soon found her way to Fort Walton Beach, FL. where she lived for 35 years.
Barbara is preceded in death by her parents Gordon and Audrey Meadows of Ipswich, England. She is survived by her brother Martin and wife Annie Meadows of Southsea, England; sons Deon and wife Bacarra Pettis of Laurel Hill, FL and Daniel Pettis of Niceville, FL; niece Sally; nephews Chris and Andy; seven grandchildren Jami, Brandon, Amanda, Morgan, Ryder, Kayla and Laynee; her partner Pete Saal and lifelong friends Sam and Sue Anne Canella.
“The people that we become are a direct reflection of our parents, and our mother was always a step ahead of the rest. She felt her greatest achievement was being a mother. She was a devoted, caring and loving mother to us boys; and it reflects in the men and fathers that we have become today. She was our confidant and our drive. We love you mum and miss you.
