Barbara Martin Stout, 84, of Bethlehem, entered the nearer presence of her Lord on Saturday, November 9, 2013 in the comfort of her home at Moravian Village. Born in Bethlehem, she was the daughter of the late Edmund F. and Frances (Taylor) Martin. Barbara attended Moravian Preparatory and Liberty High Schools and graduated from Buffalo Seminary for Girls in Buffalo, NY. She attended Wellesley College, graduated from Goucher College with a BA in Psychology and Moravian Theological Seminary with a Master of Arts in Pastoral Counseling. Barbara was the Conservationist at the Maryland Academy of Sciences in Baltimore, MD, now the Science Center, where she ran scientific excursions and planned exhibits. In Bethlehem, she worked for Del Pongracz and Associates, a public relations firm and later founded BMS Public Relations, where her clients ranged from the Council of Churches to Pentamation. After Seminary graduation, Barbara was the Counselor in Residence at West Side Moravian Church and later an Alcoholism Counselor for the Bethany UCC Counseling Ministry. Together with Helen Snyder, she ran mission trips for the Moravian Church to Costa Rica and Labrador. Barbara was a trustee of East Hills Moravian Church and the Chair of the Moravian College Music Alliance. Barbara was a member of the Pocono Lake Preserve, where she was the Religion Chair for over 20 years, Saucon Valley Country Club, Central Moravian Church, DAR, Torch Club, Board of Mangers of the Bach Choir of Bethlehem and the Junior League of the Lehigh Valley. Survivors: Son, Peter Martin Stout of Boulder, CO; daughter, Susan T. Jackman of Bethlehem; grandson, Andrew C. Jackman of Allentown and many cousins. A sister, Bettie Martin died earlier.
