Barbara Lou Headland, age 77, of Salem, died at 1:45a.m. on August 24, 2014 at Essex III. She was born May 2, 1937 in Leetonia, daughter of the late Perry and Naoma (Beall) Grady. Barbara was a graduate of Leetonia High School and attended Malone College for two years. Before her retirement, she was manager of medical offices in Ohio, Michigan, Pennsylvania and California for 31 years. Barb also assisted her husband, Mark in over 50 years of ministry. She was lead soloist in most churches and sang in two church women’s quartets. She also served as Youth Sunday School Teacher and Senior Girls Awana Leader all while working full time. She was a member of the Salem First Friends Church. Her husband of 58 years, Rev. Mark Headland, whom she married June 2, 1956, survives her along with a son, Phil (Cathy) Headland of Lititz, Pennsylvania; daughters, Deborah Youngman of Eagleville, Pennsylvania, Diana (David) Kind of Phoenixville, Pennsylvania; sisters, Helen Hartman of Salem, Verona Lippiatt of Salem, Marlene Grady of Salem, Ann Oliver of Wooster and Irene Herman of Salem; grandchildren, Brockton and Brian Youngman and Dr. Branden Youngman, Brianna Markgraf, Heather and Jensen Kind, and Phillip and Nicholas Headland.
