Barbara Lea Cox (of Edgar, Nebraska), the daughter of Durward and Nellie (Grossman) Jackson, was born January 25, 1933 at Angus, Nebraska.  She departed this life on Friday, August 25, 2017 at the Sutton Community Home in Sutton, Nebraska at the age of 84 years.

Barb started her education at the Angus school and the family moved to Edgar when she was a child where she continued her education at the Edgar school, graduating with the class of 1951. After graduation she was employed at the Naval Ammunition Depot in Hastings, Nebraska and worked as a “mule skinner”.

Barb and Jack were united in marriage on Valentine’s Day, February 14, 1954, when Jack returned from a year in Korea.  Their first home was in Reno, Nevada where Jack was stationed.  That was the beginning of a twenty year career as an Air Force wife.  The couple lived in six states and Portugal.  They were married for 63 years.

Barb had many hobbies and interests including playing golf, cards, cooking, traveling with their service friends, Skip and Erma Damewood, working with her plants, taking care of her cats, photography and working on her computer.  She was a member of the Church of the Plains where she served on the Session, sang in the choir, was a member of the Deacons and she was a Charter Member of the American Legion Auxiliary. 

She is preceded in death by her parents and a sister, Shirley.

Survivors include her husband Jack Cox of Edgar, Nebraska; brother Dale Jackson and wife Valijean of Lincoln, Nebraska; their daughter Lisa Mapson and family of Lincoln, Nebraska; many other relatives and a host of friends.
