Barbara was born in Bartlett, Iowa, a town so tiny it’s no longer in existence. After 2 brief marriages, Barbara married Lonen C. Curtis. They were married in 1956 by a Justice of the Peace in Idaho City and the two celebrated at the bar next door, although she was never fond of alcohol. She worked as a bookkeeper for Sears for many years and at several different stores. She retired just a little early to follow Lon on his adventures, moving frequently throughout 5 different states. They traveled the United States seeking Levi jeans and other treasures at yard sales and thrift stores.
Although she was never able to have children of her own she raised her husband’s children, Penny, Lonen and Chris, who all predeceased her. Her husband, Lon, predeceased her in 2009. She is survived by two sisters, two nieces and a nephew. She is also survived by two step-sons, Ronnie (Diana) Curtis and Don (Ronni) Curtis, and two daughters-in-law Susan Curtis (Lonen) and Mary Curtis (Chris). She has numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren and one great-great granddaughter. She cared deeply about everyone, and tried and succeeded in making everyone happy. And she was a great bridge and pinochle player.
