Barbara Jean Long, 70, of Lima, earned her Angel wings at Heritage Hospice Center in Minster, Ohio on June 11, 2023 at 6:48 am., after an extended illness. She was born on August 30, 1952, in Lima to Clarence Senior Russell and Mary Elizabeth (Cole)Davis. Both parents preceded her in death. In October of 1967, she married Richard Long, who survives in Lima. She was his sweetheart, and he took care of her throughout her illness.

Barb was employed and retired from GM in Defiance, as a Core Processor, and from Elder Beerman. She was a woman of faith, a member of Philippian Missionary Baptist Church, served as a Trustee and on the usher and hospitality teams. Barb was an avid reader, and loved to relax in her chair and read. She was a wonderful wife, mother and grandmother. She loved to cook, and bake, crafts, enjoyed photography, ceramics, and vacationing with her family. She also loved to garden with her grandchildren, was an avid bowler, and she loved food! She believed in eating well, she didn’t care how much it cost. Many of her family’s fondest memories came from over the dinner table. Barb had always said, “ Live life with no regrets, because tomorrow isn’t promised to any of us.”

In addition to Richard, Barb is survived by her daughters; Tonyanette “Tonya” (Casey) Alexander, of Warner Robbins, GA, Rhonda K. Long, of Lima, Latesha “Terea” Long of Columbus, OH: her sons; Richard Demar Long of Decatur, GA, Jamie and Jamaica Johnson, of Stone Mountain GA, “adopted kids,” Tina, Toni, and Tasha, and a “Special Daughter,” Sharese Shine. Barb and Richard have 8 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren, plus a host of nieces,nephews, and cousins.  Barb’s siblings are; Diane Sanders of Springfield, Cynthia Bell of Columbus, and Mary Sanders of Columbus, Michael Russell of Lima, Robert (Kelly) Russell of Atlanta, GA, and David Russell of Ft. Wayne, IN.  Her in-laws include: Arthur (Mary) Long Jr., Johnny Long, Winfred “Bill-Hoot” (Beverly) Long, Kenny Long, Robert (Dionne) Long, Elma Long, Gladys Logan, Shirley Long, Janice Long, Rosie Long, and Shirley Thomas-Upshaw. She was preceded in death by siblings; Darrel Sanders, Craig Thurman, Stevie Sanders, Gloria Russell Banks, and a brother-in-law, Lucius Upshaw.
