Barbara Jane Kessler, age 94, of Kissimmee, FL passed away on July 24, 2022. She was born in 1928 in Louisville, Kentucky and was the only child of parents, John, and Maude Trott. Barbara loved her birthday because it fell on Cinco De Mayo and gave everyone cause to celebrate her whether they knew her or not! She was also proud of her birth home and always joked saying “Kentucky – where the women are fast, and the horses are beautiful!”

Barbara is preceded in death by her husband Tom Kessler who sadly passed away almost a year ago last summer. She is survived by her sons, John, his wife Diane Kessler of Tallahassee, FL, and Mark and his wife Laura Kessler of Kissimmee, FL. She was Grandmother (called Nonnie) to 5 and Great Grandmother to 9 sweet grandchildren. Family was her everything.

Barbara grew up in Louisville, Kentucky and went to college at Indiana University her freshman year, the University of Louisville for her sophomore and junior year until her family moved to Orlando.

Barbara’s passion for education and helping young women was fulfilled by her serving many years with the local P.E.O. Chapter Fi. Barbara’s love of reading and books lead her to serve on many of Osceola County’s Library Committees for years, including her favorite “Friends of the Library”.

Most would not know but Barbara was a gypsy and loved to travel all over the world. She had a group of women who just packed up and flew wherever they wanted. A few of her favorites were Greece, Amsterdam, Switzerland, Spain, and Italy. Traveling all around the United States with Tom and camping with their sons was another favorite past time. Barbara had the best sense of humor and all her grandkids loved to make her laugh until her eyes watered and squinted. She loved the peace and beauty of the beach and the grandeur of the mountains. We all shared some good talks on our nature walks or along the shorelines. Over 40 years of staying in New Smyrna Beach was her favorite, especially if all the family and grandkids could come too. She enjoyed playing Bridge with her friends, food, music, concerts, small craft projects and keeping her mind sharp as a tac with cross word puzzles, word searches, sudoku, and watching Jeopardy and Wheel of Fortune. If you gave her chocolate, you were her very best friend.

Now even though Barbara was a great housekeeper and could cook, she did not love cleaning or being in the kitchen.

2445 Lane Park Rd., Tavares, FL 32778, with our great appreciation.
