YAX, Barbara J. Of Schoolcraft Died March 16, 2010 at Borgess Pipp Hospital in Plainwell. Barbara was born August 18, 1927 in Kalamazoo, a daughter of Harold and Gladys Taft and had lived in Schoolcraft for the past 48 years. Prior to her retirement, she was employed in quality control, shipping and a relief operator for many years at Arco in Schoolcraft and later for Plastic Engineering, Inc. in Portage.
Barbara was attending the Recast Church of Mattawan. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother and aunt. She enjoyed driving, but especially enjoyed knitting dish cloths for her children and grandchildren. On April 7, 1948, she was married to Donald Yax, who survives. Also surviving are 5 children, Larry A. Cherie Yax of Portage, twin daughters, Patsy A. Larry Aldrich of Schoolcraft and Patty A. Jack Noel of Kalamazoo, Donald L. Shelley Yax of Marcellus and Terry A. Laura Yax of Lawton; 19 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by several brothers and sisters.
