Barbara Florence Russell, 72, of 7875 Fairplay Road in Fairplay, Md., passed away Tuesday, June 7, 2011, at Julia Manor Healthcare Center in Hagerstown, Md.
Born July 26, 1938, in Baltimore, Md., she was the daughter of the late Harry Ralph and Marion Rita Schneider Sanford.
She was previously employed at Maryland Ribbon in Hagerstown, Hadley Farms in Smithsburg, and, most recently, at Larstan Industries in Hagerstown.
She was of the Catholic faith.
She belonged to the Red Feather Council No. 59 Degree of Pocahontas in Williamsport, Md.
Survivors include husband, James Cay Russell of Fairplay, whom she married Dec. 9, 1956; daughters, Barbara J. Novak and husband, Thomas, of Martinsburg, W.Va., Sheila T. Ripple and husband, Craig, of Marlowe, W.Va., and Denise M. Russell of Williamsport; son, Charles E. Russell of Fariplay; sister, Rita M. Reynard of Williamsport; brother, Thomas H. Sanford and wife, Helen, of Clayton, Del.; and grandchildren, Jeremy Smith and wife, Cyndi, Jennifer Smith, Heather Ripple, Billy Ripple and Darrell Bloyer.
Besides her parents, Barbara was preceded in death by one son, James C. “Buddy” Russell Jr., and one brother, William Sanford.
