Barbara Eden, 66, passed away peacefully on February 7th, 2023, after a long and far from peaceful struggle with esophageal cancer.

Born in Painesville, Ohio, Barb grew up in the West Akron area, following her father’s transfer for B.F. Goodrich to Akron. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Frederick Fore, and her parents, Jamal and Virginia Eden, and will be deeply missed by her many friends. Barb was a proud graduate of The Ohio State University, later receiving a Master’s Degree in Business Administration from the University of Texas at Austin, though there was never a doubt as to her Buckeye loyalties. Her talents were appreciated by IBM, as she embarked on a career that took her to Dallas, Boca Raton, FL., and Connecticut, meeting her to-be husband, a fellow IBM’er, along the way, before moving back to the Akron area.

As a voracious reader, Barb probably made as good a use of the Fairlawn Branch of the Summit County Library System, as any patron it has ever had. A book was always with her, as she lingered over long breakfasts which she shared with her best friends, at the now closed Sweet Pea Café.

Many thanks go to her counselor, Bev Major, and dear friends, Josie Sayegh, Sarah Finan and Marti Johnson, and to the University Hospital and Cleveland Clinic Hospital system for the care shown to her during her prolonged illness.
