Barbara W. Born, 78, of Fort Walton Beach, Florida, passed away peacefully at her home on Sunday, Dec. 13, after an extended illness.
Barbara was born in Fairfax, Alabama, to Ruby and Lester Watson. She grew up in Pensacola, Florida, and later attended Florida State University where she majored in Early Childhood and Elementary Education. She was a member of Alpha Gamma Delta sorority, active in student government, and chosen Who’s Who among Colleges and Universities. After graduation, she moved to Fort Walton Beach where she touched the lives of many students as a kindergarten teacher at Elliott Point Elementary for more than 30 years. She was a member of St.
She was preceded in death by her beloved mother, Ruby (Johnnie) Hammock; brother, Jesse (Martha) Watson; and son, Christopher Born. She is survived by her son, Charles (Donna) Born; and three grandchildren, Whitney, Chad and Ryan.
The family wished to express their sincere appreciation to her special caregivers and to Emerald Coast Hospice.
