BENEDICT – Barbara Benedict, 64, of West River Road, passed away on Saturday, January 20, 2007 after an extended battle with Multiple Sclerosis. She was the loving wife of Richard “Dick” Benedict for 40 years. Born April 19, 1942 in Canaan, CT; the daughter of the late Irving and Mildred (Winship) Rubdie, she lived most of her life in Norfolk, CT. She was a graduate of UCONN School of Nursing and was employed by Winsted Memorial Hospital, the Torrington Visiting Nurses’ Association and taught lamaze childbirth classes. She was a founding member of Faith Bible Church, Winsted, CT where she taught Sunday School and AWANA and was involved in the Missions Committee. In her younger years, she was a Girl Scouts Leader and enjoyed camping with her family. In addition to her devoted husband, Dick, she is survived by her children (spouse and grandchildren), Joe (Lindsey and Joseph), Tom (Crystal), Christine (Brian and Aleck, Emmalee, Andrew, Fayth), Janet (Darryl and JR, Ester) and Becky; a sister, Anita Mills; a brother, James Rubdie.
