Barbara Ann Tompkins 77, of Indianapolis, passed away Tuesday, October 27, 2015 at St. Francis Health Care in Indianapolis. She was born January 6, 1938 to Flavius and Cora (Lay) Waddle in Azaila, Indiana.
Barbara worked in the catalog department at the Sears and Roebuck Department Store in Greenwood for many years and was a member of New Whiteland Christian Church. She enjoyed being a grandma, taking rides and enjoying the scenery, and embroidery.
Barbara is survived by her three daughters; Debbie (Dave) Hensley of Whiteland, Cora Lynn (Tom) Heck of Indianapolis and Pam Roland of Greenwood, five sisters; Laverne Boling of Castleberry, Florida, Kate Spillman of Sanford, Florida, Beverly (Ron) Ellis of Columbus, Indiana, Della (Bobby) Headrick of Deland, Florida and Peggy (Frank) Wilson of Deberry, Florida, twelve grandchildren; Laura Tompkins, Misty Harger, Alisha Turner, Clifton Cole, Janna Phillips, Jennifer Lyles, Travis Roland, Teri Farno, Jason Heck, David Hix, Kevin Heck and Amanda Armbruster and 17 great-grandchidren.
She was preceded in death by her husband; Gordon Lee Tompkins, daughter; Roxanne Hix, parents; Flavius and Cora Waddle, sisters; Elnora Ritchey, Elizabeth Rund, Clarabelle Holcomb and a brother; Marshal Waddle.
