Avis Robards Melear, 95, of Newnan died Sunday, July 06, 2008 at Avalon Healthcare & Rehabilitation. She was born September 14, 1912 in Coweta County to the late Jefferson & Missouri Brown Robards. In addition to her parents, her husband, M. Lester Melear, preceded her in death. Mrs. Melear and her husband, Lester, owned & operated Melear’s Restaurant in Newnan for 58 years until retiring in December 2001.
She is survived by her daughter, Marie Kelley of Newnan; grandchildren, Elliott Kelley, Jr. of Newnan, Emily Lancaster of Ringgold, Ga, Steve Kelley of Newnan, Susan Brantley of Newnan; and eight great-grandchildren.
