Augusta Elizabeth Blanc (Gussie, Mom, Gus Gus, Grammy, Nonny) passed away on December 17th, 2019 in Boise, Idaho. Gussie was just two days shy of her 95th birthday.
She was born in Elmira, New York on December 19th, 1924 as the third child of Frank and Martha Kerbein. She grew up with 5 brothers, Art, Al, John, Jim, and Frank Jr; and one older sister Hedwig (Haddie). As a young lady, she loved to dance and socialize with friends. This remained a constant throughout her life.
During WWII Gussie supported the war effort by working at a U.S. based POW camp. She met her husband Paul when he was home on leave. They were married in Elmira, NY on February 26, 1946. Work brought them to North Hollywood, CA where Gussie later took a job as an electronics technician at ITT Gilfillan.
Gussie and Paul retired and enjoyed traveling the world, golf, and lawn bowling. Gussie enjoyed leading and chairing social clubs and lawn bowling teams. Her creativity and talent for knitting and other arts and crafts was a joy for the family. After three decades in North Hollywood and Canyon Country, CA they moved to Boise, ID to be closer to their daughters and family.
Friends and socialization were very important to Gussie and she continued to enjoy dancing, pinochle, and Bingo nights through retirement.
Gussie is survived by one brother, Frank, four daughters Karen (John), Paula (Bill), Patti, and Dyan (Richard), 18 grandchildren, 30 great-granchildren, and 5 great-great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband Paul, older sister, and 4 brothers.
