Audrey Mae Hawkins was born March 13, 1928 in Mumford, Texas to Clem L. Littleton and Martha Huddleston Littleton. She was one of four other siblings; two sisters, Mavis Comell Andrews and Chrystene Joshua; two brothers, Theodore and Melvin Littleton; and a step-father, Herman Wiggins.

Starting as high school sweethearts, Audrey Mae and Lavaughn C. Hawkins were married for fifty-two years. To the union three children were born; twins, Wilbur L., Wilfred C. Hawkins and Kenneth R. Hawkins. Audrey and Lavaughn also raised their grandson, Sonny Lynn Hawkins.

While serving as a disciple of Mt Olivet Baptist Church, Audrey was a member of the Matron Circle Choir, Gospel Choir and Inspirational Choir. Audrey and Lavaughn Hawkins served as the first co-chairpersons for the Mt. Olivet Men’s and Women’s Day. When Audrey’s health began to fail she later united with Mt. Hermon Missionary Baptist Church under the pastorate of Bishop Donald J. Washington in 2010 where she could be with her son, Kenneth.

Audrey was an LPN for the State School for a number of years. She also worked at Sears Distribution Center for several years and served as a seamstress for the community from her home.

Audrey is preceded in death by parents, Clem and Martha Littleton; step-father, Herman Wiggins; sister, Mavis Comell Andrews; brothers, Theodore and Melvin Littleton; husband, Lavaughn C. Hawkins; son, Wilbur Hawkins and daughter-in-law, Eileen Regina Hawkins.

Audrey Mae Hawkins leaves behind to cherish her memory; sons, Wilfred Hawkins and Kenneth (Jacqueline) Hawkins; sister, Chrystene Joshua; grandsons, Sonny Lynn Hawkins and Raymone (Michael) Simpkins; granddaughters, Annette Parks and Aletta Lin Parks; great grandson, Mykel Simpkins; cousins from the Payne, Gayles, Oliver and Crawford families; along with a host of other relatives and many friends.
