Atha C. Sharp Lortz, 91, Anderson, passed away April 12, 2011 at Community Hospital, Anderson after a sudden illness.
She was born September 23, 1919 in Millers Town, Kentucky, and resided in Anderson most of her life. She was a homemaker. Atha attended Whetstone Christian Church. She was a den mother for The Cub Scouts and she volunteered for the Anderson Art Center. Atha was also a precinct Vice Committeewoman.
She is survived by her daughters, Leatha Robert Lemen of Grand Rapids, Minnesota and Nancy Mike Hoggatt of Anderson; son, Steve Elizabeth Lortz of Anderson; two brothers, Lowell Companion, Jeanette Sharpenstein of Louisville, Kentucky and Quentin Paula Sharpenstein of Louisville, Kentucky; sister-in-law, Jeanette Sharp Lortz; nine grandchildren, David Lemen, Allie Kleinschmidt, Gloria Arthur, Anna Warmuth, Sarah Mendez, Ruby Bethke, Genevieve Wilson, Aimee Zabinsky and James Hoggatt; 16 great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews, including local nieces, Tina Allgood and Janice Strawn.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Lee E. Lortz in March of 1995; parents, Stroud & Ruby Carmen Smith Sharp; son, Kurt Lortz; grandson, Matthew Lemen; granddaughter, Michelle Hamilton; sister, Wanda McKinley and brothers, Justin Sharp and Clarence Lee Hodges.
