Passed away peacefully Wednesday afternoon, June 9, 2021, Arvon was born October 23, 1940 in Marne, Michigan the son of Thomas and Luella (Mergener) Farrell. He was a veteran serving in the US Army 1st Cavalry Division.

He attended Aquinas College and received his Bachelor’s Degree. Qualified to practice in the State of Michigan as a Certified Public Accountant. Received his Master’s in Taxation from Grand Valley State College.

He worked at Production Farm Credit, Grand Valley State College, Egley & Brink CPA and retired from Western Michigan University in January 2005.

Arvon traveled around the United States to watch his daughter skate on the Western Michigan University Synchronized Skating Team during her college years at WMU and traveled to Prague to watch her skate internationally with the Dearborn Crystallettes Synchronized Skating Team.

Arvon was an avid Notre Dame fan and enjoyed numerous trips with his wife and family to South Bend, Indiana to watch the Fighting Irish football team. He coached Joe’s little league teams for many years; taught Joe how to play golf, and enjoyed playing board games and tonk with his grandson Tyler.

He had great times with his brothers and sisters at St. Patrick’s Day dinners and family gatherings when they played cards; and enjoyed meeting his brother Carroll at many County Fairs to watch harness racing.

On June 4, 1971 Arvon was united in marriage to his loving wife of 50 years Jerilyn (Parks), who survives. Also surviving are his children, Megan (Adam) Ryder, Joe (Kara Zomer, Brady and Austin) Farrell; grandson Tyler Farrell; sisters, Margaret Bear, Mary Ann (Earl) Meerman; mother-in-law, Shirley Parks; brother-in-law Tom (Shelley) Parks; cousins, and many nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews. Arvon was preceded in death by his parents; an infant brother, Robert Edward; brothers, Carroll and Thomas Farrell; sister, Gertrude Jazwinski; sister-in-law, Arlene Farrell; brother-in-law, Don Bear; and father-in-law, Jerry Parks.
