Arvella R. Markins Gerard, 100, Anderson, died November 21, 2011 at Bethany Pointe Health Campus in Anderson. She was born April 16, 1911 in Gaston, Indiana.
Arvella worked as a secretary at Rangeline Center. She had previously worked at the Alexandria License Branch and Riggins Dairy in Muncie.
Survivors include her three stepchildren, Kenny Wilma Gerard, Esther Leathers & Martha Dave Mitchell, all of Anderson; eight grandchildren, sixteen great grandchildren; nine great great grandchildren; two nephews, Joe Elaine Markins of Muncie & Tom Judy Leach of Anderson; and two nieces, Shirley John Johnson of Alexandria & Linda Bob Sorenson of Lafayette, IN.
The family would like to give special thanks to the staff and friends at Bethany Pointe, where she called home for the last 4 1/2 years.
She was preceded by her husband, Oscar Gerard; parents, William & Etta Finley Markins; two sisters, Mary Leach & Margaret Pittenger; two brothers, Merle Markins & Ralph Markins; a son-in-law, Don Leathers; and a nephew, Jerry Markins.
