The loved ones of Arturo Joaquin Lucero, age 69, a.k.a. “Tatters, Jack, Jr., Art “, with great sorrow informed the world that he decided to go on life’s eternal fishing trip. On Saturday, August 20, 2016 Arturo passed due to heart failure.
He is survived by his daughters, Eugenia Bencomo and Adelia Lucero; son-in-law, James Bencomo; and six grandchildren, Adam Lucero, Alianna Lucero, Alicia Lucero, Reina Bencomo, Acacio Lucero, and Cruz Bencomo; his brother, Jose “Chema” Lucero; as well as countless other family and friends.
Arturo J. Lucero was born in Cuba, NM on January 24, 1947 to Joaquin and Elizaida Lucero. He graduated from Rio Grande high school in 1965. He spent four years as an aggie at New Mexico State. Arturo worked at New Mexico Beverage and Sandia National Labs where he retired from. He loved fishing, hunting, bike rides, and taking his family out to eat. Arturo truly loved his family and friends and to all who knew Arturo, everyone was family and a friend! Art lived every day with a smile and a hug as if it were his last. His hugs, laugh, and love are legendary. We are all better people for having known and been loved by Arturo. We love you Dad! Arturo was an avid member of Second Presbyterian Church.
