Arthurene Edens Bomberg of Denver, Colorado passed away on October 8, 2019 at the Denver Hospice of natural causes. She had just turned 89, 3 days before her passing. She was preceded in death by her husband, Dr. Thomas J. Bomberg. She is survived by her two sons. Bryan (Craig) and his wife Karen of Steamboat Springs, Colorado, and grandchildren Erin, Maxwell, and Conner. Scott and his wife Susan of Peoria, Arizona, and granddaughter Nina.
Arthurene was born October 5, 1930, in Hobart, Oklahoma to Arthur and Oleta Edens. She grew up in Hobart but later moved to Sterling, Colorado. She was elected homecoming queen her senior year at Sterling High School. Arthurene graduated from Colorado State College of Education in Greely, Colorado. Tom and Arthurene were married in Sterling on April 29th 1954. Tom was a Saber jet pilot in the Air Force. They eventually settled down in Colorado Springs, Colorado, after Tom graduated with a Doctor of Dental Surgery degree from Kansas City, Missouri. Arthurene taught school in Colorado Springs while raising two wonderful children. The family moved to Denver in 1974. Arthurene received a Master of Arts degree from Regis College in 1988. She had lived in Denver for the last 45 years.
She was an accomplished knitter, enjoyed gardening and attending writing workshops. She had a deep love for her many Old English Sheepdogs. Her fondness for quaint bookstores and scouring the classic children’s literature section lead to a passion for storytelling and she would often don wigs and costumes to spin a tale for young and old alike..
Never one to mince words, she was known to be feisty, strong willed, and lived life on her own terms. She will be deeply missed by all her friends and loved ones.
